I want a retest!

Okay well right now I'm going to try harder for the GBS retest, because testing positive for GBS at 8 weeks in no way reflects what my condition will be like in 30 more weeks. I realize that if I had a bad enough colonization then I am more likely to test positive, but I still want to retest. The midwife I was with on Monday wouldn't hear of it, but that doesn't mean some of the others won't or that its not my right. I'm looking into it. It may not make a difference for their policies, but it makes all the difference in the world for me. If I am positive at 35ish weeks then I will get the antibiotics, but if I am negative then I see no reason for them. They would have me get the antibiotics based off of a test given 8 months before delivery just because of regulation. Sigh. Sometimes this stuff gets too political.

School starts next week, I suppose I should look into getting books...

I didn't really get the reasoning behind it either. As far as the CDC saying you need antibiotics in labor if you have a UTI caused by GBS, well, wouldn't you want to treat it *now* if it's an actual UTI versus an unharmful colonization? And if you treat it, then wouldn't the results no longer apply by the time you actually have the baby? I guess I just don't get it...

I did treat it already, its gone. I should probably go buy a vitamin C pill and maybe a garlic pill and start now, then increase the dosage later.
