Children at Work - a beautiful thing!

I checked Barbara Curtis' blog today and found her entry about preschool children helping. The second picture of a 22 month old helping put away dinner is the one that caught my attention. I am not alone in thinking that young toddlers can help! Of course I got much of my inspiration from her book, The Mommy Manual, so maybe that explains it. ;)

My daughter was born the same month as your son--it's nice to find a blog by someone who's going through so many of the same wonderful things at the same time! Penny loves to help, and gets quite pissy when I won't let her (mostly when I'm just in a hurry to get it done.) She's been handing me dishes from the bottom rack of the dishwasher for months now, and when we clean the living room she dusts everything she can reach with a baby wipe, and sprinkles the baking soda on the carpet for me. Now if only I could get her to be that enthusiastic about picking up her roughly 8 million tiny plastic toys!

Yes we struggle with that one too-- because for some reason having those millions of toys on the floor does not bother me. And so sometimes we forget to clean up before bedtime, but we do try because I know its a good habit to have.... he has way too many toys too, I just tell myself its an "investment" ;)
